Stinging Insect Allergy
También en / Also in Spanish
[quote align=”center” color=”#999999″]Most insects have an antiocoagulant and an anesthetic in the saliva to prolong a painless bite in the victim
Symptoms may include reddening, inflammation and itching in the bite. Most of these are not allergic.
Some people are allergic to insect bites: the body produces an antibody that may trigger histamine-discharge when in touch with the insect venom. This is the cause of the allergic reaction.

Insects that may cause Allergy
Most of the insect allergic reactions are due to hymenoptera insects (bees and wasps). Red ants may cause them, but it is hard to find them in Spain.
Wasps have yellow and black dots and can be found in diverse climates.
The nests are made of a similar material to carton and are located in the building walls, masonry or wooden piles.
They are carnivorus and they bite mainly at the end of the summer or even during autum.

Honey bees are not agressive and they sting only when they are disturbed. Domestic honey bees live at artificial beehives to make honey. They can also be found in colonies or honeycombs in hollow trees or in building cavities.
Other non-hymenoptera insects
Most of the insect bites are harmless, but may elicit reactions in sensitive patients.
Bugs are night animals sized around 20 milimiters, and the most frequent is the common bug or Bedbug (Cimex lectularius).
Pine Processionary have hairs that easily detach from the body and may travel with the air producing annoying symtoms wherever they land (skin, eyes or airways).Fleas inject oral secretion with anticoagulant, anesthetic and antigenic capacity.
