Which age is more appropiate to introduce potentially allergenic food in children?

In a recent study it is shown that there is no evidence that delaying food introduction in children has a protective effect on the developing of allergic diseases in children.

Allergy tests may indicate which food causes allergies

There is some controversy on the most adequate age to introduce food that can elicit allergies (cow milk, egg, peanut and other tree nuts, soy and gluten). In an ample study made in the Netherlands on almost 7000 children, it has been observed that delaying the introduction of these food has no benefit al all on the risk of suffering allergic diseases (atopic dermatitis or asthma).

Moreover, the delay cand lead to non-beneficial effects, like iron deficiency and its consequences on the developing of the central nervous system of the kid. As Dr. Mary Fewtrell of the University College of London points out "we are producing a generation of pale and food-phobic children".
